Name: Nashelia Hall
Subject and grade(s) taught: Math for Track 3 , seventh and eighth grades, as well as Common Core Math 1.
How long have you been teaching?
I have been a teacher for 14 years and I have been in education for 16 years. I started my career in education as a teacher’s assistant and a bus driver before deciding to get my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
Who or what influenced you to become a teacher?
As a teacher assistant, I enjoyed helping and inspiring my students to be the best they can be. I wanted to be someone who was able to give back to any community; teaching gives me that sense of giving back and paying it forward all at the same time.
How do you spend your track outs?
It seems that I don’t ever track out because a teacher’s job seems to never be done. While I find myself juggling that time between working duties and personal duties, I try to focus more on my family and on making precious memories with them.
What are your hobbies?
For the past few years, my hobby seems to be grading papers! However, I enjoy dancing, skating, traveling, and above all, spending time with family.
What’s the most rewarding part of being a teacher?
What is most rewarding about being a teacher is having a role in providing a quality education and molding the minds of the future leaders of America.
If I weren’t a teacher I’d be…
I often ask myself this question. I really can’t be sure what I would do if I weren’t a teacher, as it has become a part of me! Perhaps I would be working in the technology field or trying to start my own business.
